Process of Creating My Web Pages:
Process of Creating My Web Pages:
Since I did the research on the key elements, I need to include onto a website to conform to the expectations of the genre and the audience, as well as, what is expected of a website for a music artist. I also examined two artists websites to understand further what they entail. This meant that I was able to gather the right information and ideas about what my website should look like to appeal to the stated brief target audience.
The process began by deciding what I wanted to feature on the homepage. It started as having the album cover of the latest release “Under Control”, in the foreground followed by six other album covers by the artist. However, I decided to keep the “Under Control” album in the foreground, so that it was the first thing that the users saw when the visited the website to act as a marketing ploy to promote that latest song release. I did keep the other six albums on the homepage however this precedes the section where his Instagram and two videos: The actual music video I created and the exclusive interview with Calvin Harris. I firmly believed that as the website’s main goal is to promote the artist, it should signify the importance of their online presence, as this is another platform to promote themselves and distribute their music, to gain an excess fanbase.
This was followed by the other six album covers all originally made. I thought that by promoting all of his latest releases was much better than just one song as it enables more of his music to be appreciated and distributed across a myriad of platforms.
Subsequently, after this part there is a slideshow of “the artist” when he was younger to him now, he has gained music popularity. I did not want the slideshows to showcase just pictures, I wanted them to go deeper than that and inspirational quotes was something that I incorporated. The quotes that I selected promote oneself as well as demonstrate that a person should do something which they have a passion for and love doing not because it can provide them with materialistic goods.
For my second working website I decide to choose tours. This is because the function of an artist’s website is to promote themselves and their work to the consumers. Websites are created as a business strategy, for instance music artists get most of their money from touring, so it is imperative to have a touring page, and this is certainly what a real artists website would include. I have managed to install a set of tour dates for a tour called “A Party in The Sunshine”. These tour dates cover locations ranging from England, France, Germany and America. Below the tour dates I have six pictures of people being at concerts with the caption #harrisontour. This has the intention of trending, which will increase the awareness of Harris’s tours to a higher extent.
With all of the pictures I have included on my webpages they are all original, and I have edited some of the images to enhance the colours to create a vibrant and lively picture, which fulfils the type of genre that Calvin Harris associates himself too.
